NZILA President’s message – Kavita Deobhakta

NZILA has continue to collaborate with other like-minded associations to deliver events around the country.

Counsel are from Venus and mediators from Mars … breaking down and building up relationships, dynamics and strategies: this session was delivered in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch with attendees enjoying a discussion forum and meeting new professional allies.

It was a joint event with the Arbitrators & Mediators Institute of New Zealand and the Insurance Council of New Zealand (ICNZ).

Climate change litigation: a conversation with Jenny Cooper KC: Jenny is the co-founder and former president of Lawyers for Climate Action NZ. The Liability Insurance Discussion Group session was held in Auckland jointly with ICNZ.

Fraudian slips: dealing with fraud in the insurance sector: This session was delivered in Wellington and Palmerston North.

NZILA has also delivered several webinars and we plan to include more in our program in early 2024.

2023 Conference – 41 Degrees South

6-8 September, Tākina (Wellington Convention Centre)

The 2023 NZILA conference committee invites you to join us for 41 Degrees South in Wellington: Te Whanganui a Tara.

The program is on the website and will examine current issues facing the insurance law sector with a focus on the upcoming regulatory changes, climate change, cyber and recent case studies.

New Zealand’s newest convention centre, Tākina, is the venue for all conference sessions, with all social functions close by.

Meet the leaders

In early 2024, we will deliver three casual networking sessions across Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.

Although targeted at young professionals or those new to the industry, all are welcome to attend and network with industry leaders and colleagues from across the industry spectrum.

Two industry leaders will be placed at each table of attendees and the leaders will move tables throughout the session to give attendees a great cross section of different leaders.
