AILA is pleased to bring you news of a conference to celebrate the 250th anniversary of Carter v Boehm to be held on 1 - 2 October 2016 in Sumatra.
The insurance issues in Carter v Boehm arose out of a French attack on Fort Marlborough, a British trading post in Bengkulu, Sumatra in 1760. A one off weekend conference has been arranged to acknowledge and reflect on the 250th anniversary of Lord Mansfield’s seminal judgement on ‘utmost good faith’, which is arguably the most important case in the law of insurance and was delivered in 1766.
Please note that this is not an AILA conference, and enquiries should be directed to Hazel Kerr (hazel@cimages.com.au) or Craig Hassell (craig@cimages.com.au).
